Apple Polishing ^_^

Today when my mum came back from barber shop, my sister went out and open door for her. Then she trying to persuaded my mom let her join her friend to go shopping later some. Below are their conversations.

Linda : Mom, your hair is very nice. It quite matches with your clothes that you going to wear to the party tonight. I’m sure you are the most beautiful lady among the entire guest at the party.

Mom : Ready?

Linda : Sure. You can wear the high heel shoes that we bought for you and wear some jewellery. I’m sure not one can compare with you. Dad will feel proud that you are his wife. So mom, can I go out with my friend later?

Mom : …….

In this conversation my sister is using Ad Populum Appeal to Vanity.
This fallacy is use to persuaded people to make them seen like special or to be respect.

BCT : Ad Populum Appeal to Vanity.

Asking question ^_^"

Tonight when I’m typing my blog and busy with thinking what should I write and what critical thinking’s thing that I had used for the whole day. Suddenly my mom come in and asks me some question. This is the conversation:

Mom : Where you put jacket that going to bring to Genting tomorrow?

Joanne: Chair.

Mom : Then which shoes you going to wear?

Joanne : That one lol.

Mom : where you put your bottle?

Joanne : Table.

Mom : What time you want wake up tomorrow?

Joanne : anytime.

Mom : Can you reply my question seriously?

Joanne : ok.

In above conversation, I’m using one of the critical thinking criterions. It is over generality. It means that the word we are using is very clear and understandable but statement refer to an idea that is not sufficiently specific to allow us to determine the important ideas that are being shared.

BCT : OVER GENERALITY

ChitChat....

At the night while I’m chatting with my cousin, she told me that she had brought a new book and it is nice to read. She suggests me that I can buy one and I will know how nice the book is. I’m quite attracting with what she say and plan going to buy that book. Who knows my cousin brother told me that don’t believe what she said. This is because she is the admirer of the author and she is finding supportive friend. So sure she will tell me that the book is nice to read and persuaded me to buy that book.

In this case my cousin sister is using: Ad Hominen Circumstantial.

BCT : AD HOMINEM CIRCUMSTANTIAL

Blue skirt?? Green Skirt??

After came back from interview my friend’s aunt, I'm lying on the bed and my sister came in and want me accompany her to go shopping to buy some thing. After discuss we decide to go Sunway Pyramid to shop. In one of the shop,my sister was trying two skirt - one is blue and one is green and she was thinking which skirt going to buy.

Lisa : hei… which one you think more suit for me?

Joanne : erm… actually I think both also look nice and suit you. Erm.. you decide yourself, if not later you will blame me if you change your mind.

Lisa : actually I think both nice also. Green look more colorful but blue more easy to match with other shirt.erm…It will be look more nice if match with other jewelry and I can wear it to work too. Right?

Joanne : which skirt you mean?

In above conversation my sister is using
fallacy of ambiguity. It is a series of statement that is worded in such a way as to make the listener/ reader lose track of “which one” you are talking about.
BCT : FALLACY OF AMBIGUITY

Interview ^u^....

Today I went to my friend’s aunt house for interview. It is needed to complete our management assignment. When I reach her house I have a short introduction about myself to the interviewee – Ms.Chong. After that , without wasting time we start our interview. Some of the conversations are like bellow :

Joanne : First of all can you introduce a bit about you?

Ms.chong : My name is Chong Yen Kuan. I live at Cyberjaya with my family. I graduate with MSc. (Infomartion Technology) from University Putra Malaysia (UPM). I work as a Multimedia & It manager in a company.

Joanne : Can you describe about your job? Such as task that need to do.

Ms.Chong : PMP Project Management approach is being practiced for all key areas of project management – Scope, Time, Communication, Purchasing, HR and Risk Management.

Joanne : Do you face any challenge and problem in perform your task? Can you please explain it?

Ms.Chong : System down, network down - will delay company business process which required me to solve the problem immediately.People management which required good communcation skills; Project delayed due to limited resources or other issues. Time is cost, hence replanning is needed.Multitasking - required good time management

Based on the conversation above I feel that I’m using a type of question. It is Interrogative Question.

BCT : ITERROGATIVE QUESTION

say me that.I think if want
to compare, you are people
who most not filial piety
to your parent.You didn’t
go back to home even at
midterm break and although
you have nothing to do at
midterm break.

Carol : er…..

Our conversations stop at here because my friend says that she has something to do that time. And after that I just realize that we are using one of the Ad hominen fallacies : Tu Quoque

BCT : TU QOUQUE
